The surprising colour of the Baltic countries’ sky caught my imagination to write for the Flute, Alto and Harp Trio. This could be a kind of “Tribute to Debussy” because of my great admiration for the pure and delicate line of his Trio. In Estonian, three is “Kolm”. The meeting between the title’s phonetics and the composing idea has helped me to give each player a strictly equal part. In the past, this kind of Trio hasn’t often been used. My concern was to work these 3 instruments as one and to give an orchestral mood suggested by the tension of each player’s virtuosity.
